Here is my final pitch for my second thesis concept. I feel that I got really good feedback from this and feel that everyone was really pleased with it. Overall after this final pitch I feel that both my first concept, Follow the Wind, and my second, A Broken Spirit, got really great feedback and positive notions. I think I can really make one or even both of these pieces really amazing.
Concept Statement
Though we may become shattered by life’s trials and tribulations,
we are not alone. There is always someone who can find us in
our darkest hour and bring us back to the light.
Characters
Female (Savior), Male (Broken Spirit), Shadow (Antagonist)
Conflict
A man in his castle is alone and lost. He begins to allow the
shadows to take him in and show him a way to be free. But as
he falls further into the darkness our Savior comes from the
heavens to bring him back into the light.
Ending
Our heroin comes to the man’s aid at his darkest point and heals
his broken spirit.
Script / Poem
MALE:
My spirit is broken.
And as I stair into the darkness.
The shards begin to pierce my heart.
They tear through me leaving me broken apart.
FEMALE:
In the dark I can hear your heart break
But I can not see you.
I come to you listening for the sound
But darkness is all that I have found.
MALE:
The silence leaves me deaf and the shadows leave me blind.
I listen for someone that is with me, but the shadows are all that I find.
FEMALE:
As I search and follow I begin to lose my place.
So I make a trail from the stars so that I may find your face.
MALE:
These walls push in on me, forcing the shards further in.
The shadows take me away from the prison I am in.
FEMALE:
I find you on the edge almost out of my reach.
MALE:
I feel your heartbeat coming close to me.
BOTH:
I reach out to you and you do the same
Leaving the shadows from where they came.
MALE:
I follow you feeling the ache leave my heart.
My spirit is broken no more.
